Preschool Graduation

L had her preschool graduation last night. It was a small affair - more of an end of year program thing since her school is closing. It was fun! They sang a few songs, gave us parents a time capsule full of preschool projects and finished it out with some cake and juice. A very nice time. My girl is growing so quickly :-( We have decided to homeschool her (taking it a year at a time) since most of the schools around here aren't up to our standards, so this may be her only exposure to school. I am glad it was a good one. She truly loves to learn. I hope to keep that fire burning inside of her forever. Learning is something I enjoy. I miss taking classes and being in a classroom (maybe someday again - who knows!). Off to watch a movie with my hubby. So much togetherness - makes me sick :-)

Circus Came To Town!!

The circus is in town! We actually went as a family. Miracle you say? Me too!! And here's proof...

We actually had a pretty nice time together. We spent the ENTIRE day together from 8:30 until 6:30. We don't do this very often (usually for good reason) but it worked out okay today. We went to S's soccer first and then to the boat shop (for $200 worth of boat parts for a boat that sits in the driveway and I can't get a $20 clock,WTF?!?) followed by lunch at Famous Dave's and then a much needed trip to my most hated store, Walmart. Daddy Piper needed supplies for his shop and this is the most economical place to get it.

Back to the highlight of the day. Both kids enjoyed the circus. They sat through the entire 2 1/2 hours and were very entertained with the acrobatics and animals. S went potty 3 times. (He has now gone like 4 days with no accidents). The circus might become an annual thing, if only it didn't come when it's 112 out!!

More Potty Training

S is doing wonderfully on the potty training thing. I guess it's true to let the child lead you in the process instead of forcing it (provided they're not 10 I guess!). He had ZERO accidents today. He is still wearing a diaper for naps and bedtime but otherwise, he's in undies. So proud of my big guy!!

Dance, Dance, Dance

L has found a dance studio that she really likes! I really like the teacher she had today. She was so fun and made the hour just fly by for the girls. I switched L's fall class around so she could have Miss Mandy. S was kinda sad though because he wants to do dance class and Daddy Piper isn't so big on that idea. So it'll be soccer now for S. L wants to resume soccer in the fall but frankly being 34 weeks pregnant and sitting out in the sun for practices and games doesn't appeal to me so I am trying to persuade her to wait until winter session to go back. We'll see how that works out in August.

Swim Lessons for the Big Girl

L started swim lessons. She did GREAT!! She was so nervous about starting though and it all worked out. Lessons are about 10 minutes from here so that's nice. I hate driving very far anymore and it doesn't have much to do with gas prices. I am just getting to be a homebody who wants to stick closer to home during this heat. Anyway - lessons went well. And then right after lessons, she had her last day of preschool. The lady that runs the preschool has taken a position at a school and is closing down her own preschool. There will be a graduation/end of year program tomorrow so that will be nice. It's sad though since this is also the place where we took music classes for the kids. I am still feeling great. I did have more bleeding but things look good, so who knows?!?! I love being pregnant. I really can't imagine not having anymore after this one - even though I know it's medically necessary. Only about 15 more weeks and we'll meet the new little one. I am excited and also nervous and mothering 3 young ones. Just want to be a good mom to all of them.

S is Potty Training

S had such a great day today potty training!!! He only had one accident all day long - WOOHOO!! My goal is to have him potty trained before the new baby comes in October and it looks like that might be possible after all. He even went poo in the potty today - big deal around here :-) His only accident occurred while I was gone to Target to get the curtains to replace the closet door in their room. Daddy Piper was removing closet doors and the kids were playing in the playroom. L was wiping him up and S was running around with no undies. L explained he had an accident and she was cleaning him up. She is going to be a big help with the new baby!

Baby #3...

Had another couple appts this week to check out Baby #3. Things are progressing on schedule and even more... NORMAL! I had more bleeding last Saturday before the big party but everything looks fine. The baby is even measuring big. The HB came back in the 160's so who knows if its a boy or a girl :-)

Happy 4th Birthday to my Princess Piper

Happy Birthday L!!!! Today was a fun day. We celebrated L's 4th birthday all day long. We started with rainbow pancakes (a special request) complete with candles and the Happy Birthday Song at 8 in the morning. This was followed by her choice of 2 presents to play with from Saturday's party then she had to get ready for school, wearing one of the new outfits bought by Mommy & Daddy but picked out just by her. She got to school and skipped inside singing " I'm 4 - I'm 4". I wished the teacher good luck and left :-) S and I went to the store to get her a balloon bouquet so surprise her when she got home from school later. She loved coming home to the balloons! We had a nice lunch and settled down for naps. When she woke up from her nap, we played some then decorated the rainbow birthday cake that has become synonymous with birthdays around here. That evening when Daddy Piper came home, she was so happy to see him! It is so nice to come home to a happy family (or I think it would be, if I were the one coming home). We had planned to get pizza and wings, per the birthday girl request but our local pizza joint was closed due to a death in the family so we headed to Buffalo Wild Wings. We all enjoy that place. Funny side story: We first took L there when she was 2 weeks old after her dr appt so we could have lunch. If you haven't been there - that place in NOISY and she slept through the whole lunch. So we had a nice dinner and came home to have the birthday cake and open the rest of her gifts. She ended up being able to blow the candles alone this time :- ) She made out with a ton of great gifts and not stuff that won't get played with in a few weeks.

Happy Birthday Sweetie! I have enjoyed this last year with you. You are growing into a spunky kid and I love it!! I see some stubborn years ahead but that will get you far in life, so don't change that trait. You are very smart. You are learning to read and rhyming words is a favorite activity of yours. You enjoy "Guitar Hero" with Daddy. You love the songs "Slow Ride" and "Schools Out". You are also a very compassionate, caring individual... always thinking of others. You truly love your brother. You are the light of our lives. I am excited to see what being 4 brings to our lives!!!

Love,
Mommy

Very Fitting

"*never allow yourself to complain about anything - not even the weather.
*never picture yourself in any other circumstances or someplace else.
*never compare your lot with an other's
*never allow yourself to wish this or that had been otherwise.
*never dwell on tomorrow - remember that tomorrow is God's, not ours."

I read this on another blog today and thought it very fitting to my life. I wanted to post it here as a reminder to myself!

Pool Adventure

We made our first trek out to the pool today. Granted the trek wasn't far - about 10 feet from our backdoor but still, first of the season. We got the pool last summer and we played in it from April to September. I look back now and wonder what the heck what we were thinking. It was COLD in April!!! This was the first weekend we really thought it warm enough outside to be flouncing around in the pool (temp was 112 in case you were wondering). Last summer, L was so nervous in the water and S.... just fahgedaboutit. He was scared out of his wits. By the end of summer, L was jumping from the side into the pool and S was comfortable floating around. Within minutes of being in the pool, the vacuum kicked on and scared the daylights out of both kids and I though that was the end of the fun for the season but low and behold, I calmed them down and we went on to have an afternoon full of swimming delight. L was jumping from the side and S soon followed suit! It turned into a very fun family afternoon. I am looking forward to many more of these times in the coming months!!

Happy Father's Day

I think my kids have the best daddy in the whole world. I am sure there are alot of mommies out there that think that but I know for a fact it's true :- ) We had a nice time celebrating Father's Day. We gave him the new UFC DVD and a certificate for a massage for his aching muscles. Unfortunately, Daddy Piper had to work some this AM but we had a very relaxing afternoon together out in the pool (1st time this summer - another post to follow just about the pool adventure...) followed by scrumptious BBQ from Piper Cafe. Thank you for being such an amazing father to our children, Daddy Piper! We Love You!!

Bounce U Birthday

L wanted her birthday party at Bounce U again this year, so the princess got her wish. It was such a fun party. Everyone she invited came - that really surprised me since she invited about 17 kiddos!! Bounce U is such a fun party place for people of all ages. Even Mom's and Dad's get to join in the fun. Here is a cute pic of L saying "Thank You" to everyone after opening her gifts.

The party was a complete success!!

"I Want My Mommy"

We have graduated from wanting/needing a bink to wanting/needing Mommy - 24 hours a day! I wish I had known this was going to happen; maybe taking the bink wasn't such a bright idea at this point.... Oh well, what's done is done so on we go. S needs me constantly now, which isn't so bad during the day but the nights - YOWZA, I need my rest! I had some sleep from 5-7 AM this morning, none before or after. I am hoping for a better night tonight.

L had her 4 year check up today. She is 36 pounds - 41 inches tall. So that equals 50% on the growth chart for weight and 90th for height. I sure hope the height part continues, for her sake. She did awesome getting her blood pressure taken and all the little checks from the dr. He declared her fit and ready for another year of life :-)

Back to Dance....

L had been in dance class last summer and early fall. She seemed to enjoy it to a point but not enough to continue @ $45 a month. I chalked it up to the amount of girls in the class and the technical way they were teaching 3 year olds. She decided this summer to try again but at another studio. Of course seeing her friend in MN dancing and seeing her recital costume probably had alot to do with it. We went today. She LOVED it and even better - she listened and followed the steps for the entire time which is something she didn't quite have down last fall. It was so adorable to watch. It has been my dream to have her in dance and gymnastics from the moment I found out she was a girl. But I am not going to be a pushy mom when it comes to them doing things they don't enjoy, extracurricular wise. So I was pleased when she came out happy and having enjoyed herself. We'll see how long this continues.....

"I NEED it Mama"

S had such a great night last night falling asleep without his beloved Binky. I thought "Whoooo - that was easy". Naptime today - same story as naptime yesterday. He "NEEDED IT" Mama. He just saying it over and over. And "Mama Holge" but Mama didn't give in, even though the beloved binkies are in my lingerie drawer. Hopefully tonight will fare better.

On another note - we went to the movies today. S saw his first movie and L her second at the theater and they actually sat through it. It was so much fun!!

Binky Fairy

Yesterday was a monumental day in our household. The Binky Fairy came and took S's binks to deliver to a new baby that needs them. She left him a couple surprises though - a new Backyardigans movie and a book about babies giving up their bink's. Last night was a rough night, to say the least!! He was not real happy with this turn of events but it was time. I ended up sleeping with him for part of the night and holding him because he was so upset. Naptime didn't go much better today either. As I type, Daddy is sleeping in L's bed and S is reading his binky book in his own bed - not sleeping.

On a better note - Soccer yesterday was so much fun! I didn't take my camera (shocking I know!) so I have no pics but let my words paint the picture for you. He was most excited about the fact that this was an outing just for him, not for L or for him and L but just for him. And he really has a ton of his dad's athletic ability. Super fun! Next Saturday we are all planning on going so that should be fun to have L cheer him, instead of the other way around!!!

Soccer!

S starts Soccer Tots today! He is so excited to be participating in a sport similar to his big sis :-) I'll post more later on how it goes.

Baby #3 Update

We had an u/s today. It was our big 20 week ultrasound!! We don't find out the sex - leaving it a surprise until the big show. Daddy Piper was supposed to come with but problems with scheduling at the dr. office (they said my u/s this afternoon was actually yesterday - even though my paper says today - ARGH) so I threw a hissy fit and they got me in this morning. Daddy Piper couldn't be there which totally bummed me out. Anyway - everything looks great! We got to see all the major body parts and everything was functioning properly. I have been so worried that something was wrong since the baby isn't very active. I even had a dream last night that it was born without an esophagus (WTF?)! But everything checked out wonderfully. I had both kids with me and they thoroughly enjoyed the u/s. They love hearing the heartbeat, which was 140. We didn't want to find out the sex, which was good since the little one didn't spread his/her legs to show the tech :- ) Mother's intuition says boy, and it was right with S so maybe we'll be adding another boy to the family. Who knows though until the little actually gets here. All in all - another successful visit!!

Another Boy!

Found out today that one of my best girlfriends in the whole world is adding a boy to her collection of girls. Congratulations S family!!!!

Back to Reality...

Vacation is all done- BOOHOO! We had a nice time. It is always nice to see family and friends. If I have one regret, it is moving from the Midwest back to the southwest. This is a daily regret. I wake up regretting the move and go to bed regretting the move. I have been suggesting, requesting, begging to move back almost since we got settled here. It was my bright idea to move back here. Hopefully the time will come when we make the move back up there.

Anyway - vacation was fun. It was rainy and crappy weather for the most part but that's okay. Wednesday was the only nice day in ND. And it was only nice the afternoon :- ) The kids enjoyed playing with Daddy's old toys and sleeping in the same room where Daddy slept as a little boy. Thursday we had plans to visit either the local zoo or some Indian ruins and we awoke to rain so we changed plans and hung out with Grandma, Auntie Lisa and Lacie. Thursday night Daddy Piper and I had dinner out alone while Grandma watched the munchkins. It was a delayed celebration for my 29th birthday. Funny side story: Our nephew's graduation was on my birthday so it really wasn't much of a birthday celebration for me. I didn't even get a cake. L realized this on Tuesday. She said "Mommy you didn't get a cake or have your happy birthday song". I told her it was okay. She then told me how sad it was. She mentioned this a few times throughout the week. It was pretty funny how affected she was by this. Friday we woke up and got things ready to hit the road and head to our friends' house. First we said goodbye to Grandpa and had lunch. We had an uneventful drive minus the potty break on the side of the road :- ) Friday night was so nice hanging out with our friends. They have 3 little girls the same ages as our 2 and we are due within a few days of each other - my 3rd, her 4th. Friday evening the kids all hung out and we had pizza for dinner. S got to have a bath with 4 other girls - every guys dream! We stayed up till midnight just talking and laughing - so nice! Saturday, we rode to see the girls' at dance class. The boys stayed home. We don't all fit in one vehicle anymore!! After dance (which was so cute!), we went on a Gator ride at Great Grandpa's house and then L got to have her 1st tire swing ride. We also had to make a quick stop at Best Buy since I forgot my charger in ND and couldn't stand the thought of being with my camera. After the excitement of the morning, we headed back for lunch and naps. The neighbor had a waterslide blowup thing in their front yard so OF COURSE the girls all wanted to do this. We had lunch and then made our way over there. L had a blast on this slide. She had even more fun riding in the motorized Jeep though. (Guess what L wants for her birthday now? yep - the Jeep.) The kids all napped after the fun waterslide adventure. That evening we headed to a local hotel to enjoy their waterpark. And wouldn't you know it, we had a tornado warning! This was quite crazy. L was super scared. She kept asking to go home. S slept through most of it until we had to be evacuated to the basement. One of my close girlfriends drove up with her daughter and fortunately they made it before it got too bad, so they hung out with us in the basement of the hotel. We were only down there for about 20 minutes until the storm passed. Thank goodness the tornado didn't touch down where we were. So we headed upstairs to get ready for the waterpark. My other girlfriend and her husband and 3 girls drove over to spend the evening with us. Super cool though - this guy overheard us by the front desk and asked if we needed more tickets and he was able to get 4 free with his room so we all got in for free - can't beat that!! The waterpark was fun - not nearly as cold as it was when we were there in Dec. 06. We had a great time. S didn't really like it at first because he got coldy and hates water in his face but he warmed up and enjoyed his time there. L was happy to just splash around in the water - not up for trying the slides like Miss H. After about 2 hours there, L warmed up to the slides and started going down by herself. She even asked about visiting the waterpark at home! All the kids had fun and so did us adults :- ) We had dinner at the hotel. It was quite the chaotic scene with 5 adults and 6 little ones. It went well though. It was such a nice time with our friends. I miss having those friendships on a daily basis. Everyone headed home after multiple kisses and hugs and we headed to our room. While giving the kids a bath, I heard Daddy Piper talking with someone... his friend had stopped by to see him. 10:00 at night and more socializing - we are lucky to have so many people that want to see us! He left to hang out with his friend for awhile after arranging to have breakfast before we left the next day. Both kids slept fairly well in the hotel. We had a 3 room suite, which was so nice but will be even nicer when they are older. The only way to share a hotel room with kids!! We woke on Sunday, got dressed and headed over for some yummy breakfast and (more) pleasant company. I got to meet their new baby. It really made me excited to meet our new baby! We wrapped up there and headed to the airport. The car return, baggage check and all went smooth. We did cut the time close. After going through security, we only had 20 minutes to get to our gate. For me, that was nerve wracking but it was enough time to hit the potty and get some lunch for the plane. We boarded and while we were waiting for others to board, L noticed some chips outside. I thought she meant the cooler bag we checked that had chips in it but noooooooo, she saw the chips we had just bought. They were in the stroller we had gate checked and we forgot to grab them out! Even more amazing.... they were in the stroller when we got to Phoenix!!!! Plane ride was uneventful - everyone napped. We got our luggage, grabbed the van (with a minor sour milk explosion - GROSS!!) and went home.

It was a wonderful time as always. Can't wait to be back up there full time!!
